I think it's time to sell this very unusual Victorian Hinks and Son Patent Oil Lamp. I have provided images of what I think are the most important features but please let me know if you require any further angles or descriptions.
From my somewhat extensive research I have been unable to find any other lamp quite like this one. It may be a Spelter base (but I'm not sure as it's very heavy) and the'Kite mark' (Diamond / Lozenge Mark) on the base dates it as registered 20th March 1882. All parts appear to be working and in very good condition although it could possibly do with a clean! As seen in first image = 15.5.
Width (handle to handle) =. It has a bird theme with one bird feeding another with a worm and Herron Heads as handles. I also have the Glass chimney (not pictured) but I have never thought it to be original as it seems too clean? The last image shows where a small piece of the lid may have broken off? There are no obvious dents / scratches etc on any part of the lamp. I won't pretend to be an expert but will do my best to answer any questions you may have. It can be sent by courier but I would much prefer it to be collected or to meet up if costs were covered. (The Lamp is currently located in Wells, Somerset).
