Victorian Ruby Cranberry Column Banquet Oil Lamp w/ Nailsea Shade. Superb Antique Victorian Ruby Cranberry Column oil lamp with a Nailsea Shade.

This lamp is just complete eye candy & pictures just dont do it justice! The column is brass with a wonderful patina that commensurate with its age. If you want to clean it that is up to you to do. I think the patina just adds to all that is this lamp. The Slice cut optic glass font is both a beautiful Rich color and in near perfect condition.

Some may call this pigeon blood, cranberry or ruby. It is just beautiful with the panels and color combination. The base is a black pottery base that does have a couple nicks that are small, and in no way do they take away from the lamp. Considering its age of around late 19. Century this lamp is in great shape.

However it does go to my theory that this lamp may be European. The burner does work and does have wicks.

The burner does show some age which matches the overall appearance of the lamp. The shade is a ruffle top white Nailsea glass shade that has red overshot bands at the top that complement the red in the oil font. This shade is just lovely and extremely rare! I honestly cannot find another like it.

To be honest not many may have survived the times. Nailsea glass was made in the Bristol district in England from 1788 to 1873, which also matches the age of the lamp. The shade does have some minor issues at the base. A couple of chips to it (as pictured), other than on the base the rest of it is in great condition and also a stunner.

The lamp measures almost 25 tall to the top of the shade. This does not count the chimney. The base is 6 ½ diameter.

This comes from an estate of a 93 year old avid glass and lamp collector. Some of the rarest stuff I have ever seen.
