Victorian Hand Held Pedestal Finger Oil Lamp, Cranberry Glass Font & Shade
SUPERB VICTORIAN HAND HELD FINGER OIL LAMP This beautiful oil lamp has a pedestal cranberry glass font with internal ribbing, this can be felt as a slight undulation externally. The decoration is enhanced with an applied clear glass frilled leaf to the front of the lamp. The single wick burner has'The Silber Light Comp' embossed to the brass wick winder and comes with its appropriate chimney. The font is in very good condition. A clear glass handle incorporated into the font and smaller proportions made this oil lamp easy for carrying from room to room.
The matching cranberry shade has a frilled top and sets of the lamp beautifully. The lamp stands approximately 26.3cm high to the top of the chimney. It measures approxiamtely 10cm in diameter at its widest point, excluding the handle. The base displays table wear to the underside and i believe this lamp dates from the mid to late 19th century.
Overall in very good condition with just the usual bubbles and imperfections associated with the manufacturing process of this type of glass, this would make a stunning and rare addition to any collection or a prestigious accessory in your home.
