Antique Green Glass and Cast Iron Oil Lamp with Chimney. A stunning Victorian oil lamp, with a green glass font upon a cast iron base. This impressive oil lamp has a four footed gold gilt cast iron base with a beautiful eagle head and feathers crest framed by a leaf and scroll design against a basket weave background. Beautifully spreading base to provide stability which graduates to a dome shape. The lamp has a dual control duplex brass burner clearly marked to the winders - English Make.

This coronet burner is a screw in fit with flame extinguisher lever. A fabulous crown shaped piece that holds the chimney. The green glass paraffin container is beautifully hand blown with the pontil mark present on the base.

Small air bubbles are within the glass that have become trapped during the manufacturing process. This was not uncommon in Victorian glass making techniques, which adds to the appeal of this stunning item. The glass well has a ridged design that reflects through the glass top of the well. Beautifully and is extremely eye catching in sunlight. The well is mushroom shaped with saucer like top and a slimmer deep base that sits in the cradle which is mounted to the iron base. This stunning green glass is. In great condition, beautifully shaped to facilitate removal from the cradle and be carried. The flat base to the well facilitates the lamp being placed in situe without the iron base. The lamp comes with a fluted glass tulip shade, which appears to be the original or as a certainty reflects age. This is a good solid heavy weight item. This lamp stands 56 cm's high to the top of the chimney, with the base being 17 cm's square. Assembled weight of the lamp is 4.73 kg. Wonderful condition for age of item, minor marks and scratches to the glass, signs of wear and use to the base and burner.
