THIS MONUMENTAL ALL ORIGINAL ANTIQUE VICTORIAN BANQUET OIL LAMP STANDS ON A SPECTACULAR GILT STAND WITH THREE RAMS HEADS, THE COLUMN IS A MAGNIFICENT DEEP ROYAL BLUE GLASS WITH MATCHING SCREW FITTING FONT (BAYONET COLLAR IS STAMPED MESSENGERS). Samuel S Messenger & Sons. Founded before 1835 in Gloucester Place, Alston Street, Birmingham, moved to 19&20 Broad Street before 1888, making chandeliers, candelabra, lamps and gas fittings, exhibitor at 1851 Great Exhibition and others. The name occurs in the 1810s as Messenger and Phipson of Broad Street, Birmingham, manufacturers of'plated' goods. Ceased trading in the early 1930s.

BASE WIDTH - 11 (28CM). FINISHED WITH AN ORIGINAL FINE ACID ETCHED GLOBE SHADE (IN SUPER CONDITION WITH ONLY A FEW TINY NIBBLES ON THE FITTING RIM). THIS BANQUET OIL LAMP IS IN EXCELLENT, LIGHTLY CLEANED, ANTIQUE CONDITION AND IN FULL WORKING ORDER.
