Rare C1892 Antique Miller Banquet Oil Lamp Figural Cherub with Tulip Cranberry Shade. Stunning large (33) figural cherub banquet Victorian Miller central draught oil lamp with stunning original cranberry glass shade.

Superbly cast detail in bronzed metal. The base has four feet in a French Rococo style with scrolling c's. Supporting a very elegant cupid/cherub holding aloft the pierced floral font holder that is adorned with a floral rose design on four main panels which holds the embossed drop in font. The font/reserviour has the "The Miller Lamp Co, made in the USA" embossed on the shoulder. The filler cap has an embossed leaf design with "made in United States of America".

The thumb wheel which raises and lowers the wick has "June 28 1892..2 patents". Has the original flame spreader with the Edward Miller logo.

The burner has a patent mark of May 10'92 with another three dates on the wick tube. Also can be raised without taking the shade off etc... Just hold at bottom of the gallery lift up about an inch and turn slightly, so it latches on... The chimney is original mouth blown glass in good condition with no damage. The Cranberry frilled tulip shade in very good condition with a few usual very minor flebites on the gallery fitting rim.

There is an original manufacturing line/flaw that can hardly be seen.. Though is NOT damage as shown in enlarged photo 12 which is smooth to the touch on the rim and the inside... But odd bubble, inclusion etc.

All photos taken outdoors in good daylight and indoors. Condition is overall very good. The only things to note is a little dink on the rim of the font holder. The four feet have a hole in each one... Presumably where once fixed to a newel post or similar and the cherub is missing a thumb..

Only seen at the back.... All can be viewed in the photos. Please remember this is an antique lamp of 120 years old and a rare find. Measures 33tall to top of chimney.

Base measures 6.25 foot to foot. An absolute superb addition to any collection that. Will illuminate superbly in any period, contemporary setting.
