PRETTY 19th C SMALL OIL LAMP CONVERTED TO ELECTRIC GRADUATED YELLOW FONT & SHADE
PRETTY SMALL OIL LAMP CONVERTED TO ELECTRIC. This very attractive oil lamp is small in proportion measuring just 45.5cm to the top of the shade. The base measurement being 8.5cm square at its widest point. The stepped brass base rises up to a'bronzed' fluted column which is finished with a Corinthian capitol. This in turn supports the wrythen swirl satin glass font graduated from the base in a pale yellow through to a deeper colour at the collar.
It is further enhanced with acanthus leaf decoration to the underside. There is a hairline radiating from the collar which is not immediately noticeable but more noticeable when the lamp is lit. The oil lamp still retains its original burner which has now been converted to hold a bulb. The brass shade ring supports the matching graduated yellow wrythen swirl glass vesta shade. A chip to the rim which is hidden when in situ on the shade gallery.
Please be aware that the oil lamp was converted some time ago in its history and many of these conversions were done when electricity became readily available in homes and oil lamps became redundant as a light source. Although it has been rewired in recent times we strongly recommend that the lamp is checked by a qualified electrician prior to use.
A really pretty lamp perfect for small areas and very suited to today's'shabby chic' interiors. Please look very carefully at the photographs and read the condition report to satisfy yourself to condition and style.
