An elegant pair of peg oil lamps standing 48cm tall. The bases of this pretty pair are formed as small Corinthian columns with a stepped brass plinth and fluted ebony columns terminating in the normal ornate Corinthian top. The wrythen satin glass fonts graduate in colour from a dark pink top through to a light pink at the base. The under-mount of the font screws into the base.
New gaudard burners with working wick winders, new wicks and appropriate chimneys are screwed into the fonts and the lamps are completed with later opaque pink tinged glass shades that have a wrythen pattern that perfectly complement the fonts. One font is in excellent undamaged condition, the other does have an area that appears to have suffered damage, which has been disguised. This font also has a manufacturing flaw which looks like a crack but when held up to the light and looked at inside, is in fact NOT a crack. Please see pictures illustrating this.
