Old & rare ship's gimbaled Whale Oil Lamp, around 1800, United Kingdom

Most likely from a Whaling boat, hand-made, late 1700, early 1800. The tray can move so that it remains horizontal when was used at sea.

The hinge of the lid consists of a copper wire. Authentic, used, 19th century or older. With signs of use but solid. A small round part was placed in the opening under the lid, for the cord, that part is missing now.
