Stunning antique Hinks oil lamp. The Hinks weighted brass base is formed as a Doric column and is fully marked to the underside with "Hinks & Son" and also the impressed model number 1781 - some dents to bottom plinth as per pictures. The font is a panel cut crystal which is permanently affixed to a rod which screws into the base. The brass collar of the font is the Hinks lugged type.The lamp is fitted with a Hinks No. 2 rise and fall duplex burner. The burner has a lovely ceramic button on the end of the wick winders. The wick winder turns freely and the rise and fall key raises the gallery smoothly. An antique pierced 4 is fitted and there is a snuffer lever which works well. Griffin Brand flat bulge chimney in good order. The lamp has a glass globed shaped shade that has a pretty and well defined acid etched pattern of five arched panels each containing a different wild flower. The shade is in excellent condition.
