Hinks No. 2 Duplex Oil Lamp Neoclassical Urn Font Una & The Lion Cherubs

Stunning Neoclassical antique oil lamp. The main body of the lamp is formed as an ornate neoclassical urn upon a pedestal base. Made of gilded spelter, the urn has been moulded with images of a neoclassical lady carrying a cornucopia, surrounded by grape vines and attended by putti - one of whom is riding a panther Goddess Demeter? The urn has mask handles and the lid is decorated with acanthus leaves. Small split to rim of urn as pictured.

The glass font is affixed to the inside of the urn lid and is intact. There is a Hinks lug type collar to the top of the lid.

2 Duplex rise and fall burner slots neatly into the "lugs" and is complete with ceramic button to the wick winder, integrated 4 gallery and snuffer that retains its original dropper weight. The mechanisms all work well and some wick remains. A simple globe shaped milk glass shade completes the lamp.
