The column has a decorative acanthus leaf pattern at its base and an ornate top collar with screw fit. This base has either been drilled in the past to accommodate an electrical flex, or, originally WAS an electric lamp base. The font is a milk glass cased in graduated peach glass and is embossed with a floral pattern. Remnants of gilding still clings to the detailing and a brass screw fit under-mount and collar is fitted.
A working brass "SHS Made in England Duplex" burner with a 10cm gallery supports a Griffin Brand round bulge Chimney and a later opaque swirled glass shade with peach tips the the ruffled rim completes the lamp. The brass base has areas of discolouration where the lacquer has worn. The lacquer could easily be removed to achieve a shiny brass finish.
