A very scarce antique Victorian Young's finger oil lamp with original shade and chimney, made in quilted cranberry glass, and dating to the late 19th century.
Font : Compressed ovoid form, mould blown cranberry glass with quilted pattern, applied clear glass loop handle, applied clear glass circular foot with concave polished pontil, brass collar with 7/8 threaded fitting. Burner : Young's brass single wick burner with shade ring and push fit chimney gallery, winder knob embossed'Young's Brilliant Burner', (looks to take a 3/4 wick). Young's Paraffin Light and Mineral Oil Company were based in Addiewell, nr West Calder, Scotland. Shade : Ovoid form with a short circular foot and hand pinched rim, mould blown in cranberry glass with quilted patten, original to and matching the font. Chimney : Clear glass with cylindrical foot and bulge, unmarked, original to the lamp. The shade foot rim has a small chip (last photo) otherwise good antique condition with no damage or restoration, expected tarnish / scorching to the brass burner commensurate with age & use.
