Brass Antique Victorian Oil Lamp, with glass funnel chimney shade Marked to the underside of the beige ceramic base, Veritas Lamp Works and the wick adjusters marked, Duplex, Made in England. Tail / large size, without chimney 53cm high, with chimney 74cm high.
18cm base diameter approx Dated around 1880 - 1900 Working order, just needs fuel. Good condition for age, with superficial, wear, marks and tarnishing. The brand was to became a major name in the interwar years in the UK, when Falk, Stadelmannmarketed all kinds of wick and candle lamps. 1919 Falks Veritas established to manufacture mantles. It is not known if he was, in those six years, working for Stadelmann's from Germany on his own account, or for the previous four years in Germany for a firm called Ungers in England.
