Antique Victorian Messengers Duplex Telescopic Standard Copper and Brass Oil Lamp. Late Victorian Messengers Duplex standing oil lamp.

The column is brass with four lion's paw feet. The font is copper, surrounded by four copper flame motifs. Dual wick, the wick raisers still turn and work, as do the burner riser and snuff lever. The font and the lamp lift free from the stand.

It can be handheld or rested on a flat surface. The handblown shade has been etched with ferns and flowers, and is without chips or cracks. The lamp stands at about 6 feet tall to the top of the chimney. It extends with a twist and lift to around 8 feet tall - higher than I've been able to extend it in the photograph.

Just a lovely antique piece of working Victoriana. I've not had it filled nor lit, but everything appears to be in working order. The chimney looks to be a later replacement, but still fits nicely. Knobs and levers may be a little stiff, but everything is working nicely after 100+ years. This is a tall and relatively heavy piece. The centre pole unscrews from the foot.
