Offering a rare oil lamp frame set made of heavy, ornate cast iron. This is a set for holding an oil lamp font and shade. This set can be displayed without the counter weight, if desired. This is a great decorative set that would be a wonderful addition to any serious antique lamp collection. It would require an 11. Inch glass dome shade to rest on the circular shade band. All pieces appear to have original paint with wonderful patina. The ornate design includes rose swags, grapes and several other Victorian designs. I included many pictures so you can see the various designs. Ceiling canopy with 3 pulleys. Measures 4.5 inches diameter.
Smoke bell that measures 5 diameter. Attaches to bottom of a counter weight, if you choose to use a counter weight.
3 chain sections that each measure 46 inches long. They attach to the counter weight, run up through the pulleys, and attach to the 3 arms (it's not necessary to have a counter weight to display this frame). 3 arm/yoke pieces that form frame to hold glass shade and oil font. These arms attach to the circular shade band and font holder with screws.Six (6) screws are needed for this set and unfortunately, I don't have the screws. You will need to provide these for yourself.
It is circular shaped with 3 holes to attach the 3 arms. Shade band measures 11 inches across the diameter with a 3/8 inch lip for shade to rest on.
Oil font holder (see condition description below - finial broken off). Very ornate and pretty with finial that has grape design. Has 3 holes to attach arms. Measures 8 inches long and has opening of 5 inches for oil font to fit into. I included it to show you how this type of frame looks when hung and the order in which the various pieces are put together.I've also included a picture that shows the parts of this type of oil lamp frame so you can reference them. All iron parts are in very good condition, except for the font holder which has a broken finial. It was broken when I recently moved items to storage. It did originally come with this set, but due to its very heavy weight, it will have to be mailed separately to avoid damaging the other pieces.
This frame can also be displayed without the counter weight. The rest of the frame parts are in very good condition with no breaks or repairs. Victorian parlor or library lamps were the most common source of lighting in homes in the late 1800's to the early 1900's and were often a focal point in the Victorian home.Su ch lamps are mainly comprised of a metal frame, large glass shade, and a matching glass or brass oil font, sometimes accented by spear prisms. Because of the location in which they hung in homes of the Victorian era. We attempt to describe items well, but sometimes unintentionally overlook information.
