Antique Victorian B&H Painted Cherub Glass Hanging Pull Down Library Oil Lamp

This is a fantastic original antique 1880s-1890s hanging pull-down library lamp marked B&H on the pull-down mechanism and fill cap, and the hanger shows patent date of 1887. The entire piece is original and includes all original parts All rings and ceiling canopy match, chains, decorative pieces, shade and font, and flower screws are original and matching, and the original font, burner, and fill cap are intact. A portion of the burner is missing (the wick and piece that goes in the center) and there are two missing prisms on the shade ring, but the lamp appears to be otherwise complete.

The pull-down mechanism is working and has an adjustable tensioner that controls how easy it is to pull down the lamp. The wick knob on the font appears to be functional but there is no wick so it hasn't been tested.

There are no cracks, chips, repairs, or other major damage anywhere on the lamp, but the brass pieces have all acquired an aged patina. There are a few very minor scratches in the paint on the surface of the glass pieces, but the paint is otherwise 100% intact with very little to no other wear. The lamp measures 14" in diameter and hangs down about 45", but can be pulled down to about 65 from the ceiling.
