Antique Victorian B&H Glass Painted Lily Pull Down Hanging Library Oil Lamp
This is an original antique, late 19th century B&H (Bradley & Hubbard) Victorian pull-down oil library lamp with matching hand painted floral glass shade and lamp font. The shade ring, frame, smoke bell, and ceiling canopy are ornately patterned pressed brass and the original cast iron pull down mechanism with chains is intact inside the ceiling canopy.
The lamp can easily be pulled down, but the mechanism does not automatically wind the chain back up anymore (it has to be turned manually). Not sure how this can be fixed; it seems like it could use some oil. The cast iron hanger on top is marked B&H. The remainder of the lamp is nearly flawless. The original gold finish on all pieces looks very good with little wear but has acquired a slightly darkened, aged patina.Nothing is cracked, broken, or repaired anywhere and the glass pieces do not have any visible damage. The lamp font comes with the burner, fill cap, and clear glass chimney, but is missing the wick. There are some prisms hanging around the shade ring, but more could be added to both the large shade ring and the smaller ring above it. The lamp frame measures 17" across the arms, the shade is about 14" in diameter, and the bottom of the lamp can come down a total of 40" - 58" from the ceiling, depending on how far down it is pulled.
