I have not lit the lamp but see no reason why it wouldn't work. At it's tallest extent I wouldn't chance it to hold upright unless attached directly to a desk or similar (as they would have been originally), but it holds the font at full capacity, see photo 2 but wouldn't stay put if it was knocked etc. The lamp leans very slightly outwards, see photos. It stands 73cms high overall and 54cms high to the top of the burner. The approximate width is 60cms.
