Antique rise & fall desk OIL LAMP student brass glass blue shade Wright & Butler

A substantial brass rise and fall student oil lamp Wright and Butler No. Oak base with brass pole, arm and cup, simple cut glass font and blue etched shade. I believe the shade to be reproduction but I'm not sure. It's a stunning colour. The leaves on the arm are a bit bent. The shade has some tiny nibbles around the base fitter and a few manufacturing air bubbles, photo 12 The oak base is a later add on as it would have been fixed direct to the table or desk. The font has some chips and nibbles to the ridges, see photo 9. The burner appears to work fine and the winders work.

I have not lit the lamp but see no reason why it wouldn't work. At it's tallest extent I wouldn't chance it to hold upright unless attached directly to a desk or similar (as they would have been originally), but it holds the font at full capacity, see photo 2 but wouldn't stay put if it was knocked etc. The lamp leans very slightly outwards, see photos. It stands 73cms high overall and 54cms high to the top of the burner. The approximate width is 60cms.
