Antique Pair Of Arts & Crafts Oil Lamps Hinks & Son Paraffin Kerosene Lamps
A beautiful pair of antique arts & Crafts Oil Lamps, by Hinks & son, Birmingham. They are fitted with bayonet fit No 2 safety burners, with two wicks and can use Paraffin or Kerosene. They are fully marked and have key operated raiser, to light their wicks without removing the chimney and also include weight activated cut offs, to extinguish their flames, if the lamp should topple over. They are made of brass and have a lovely flowing shape with thin central stem and organic shaped fonts, in the style of pumpkins. They have been left unpolished and both have a matching copper coloured patina. They have heavy lead plugs in their stepped base, which measure 7 1/8" or 18 cm wide and they have a total height of 24" or 61 cm high. They date to the Victorian period and are rare to have stayed together as a pair. They are both in good working condition, with their cork seals in good condition and having no leaks to their fonts.
