Antique Oil Lamp, Mary Gregory Black Glass, Albion Lamp Co. Duplex Burner
Details A fabulous antique oil lamp with a Bohemianblack glass drop-in font andblack glass base with a white enamelled Mary Gregory type boy feedingan exotic bird on a perch. The duplex brass burner with bayonet fitting was produced by the Albion Lamp Company in Aston, Birmingham. The lamp probably dates to the 1890s. Size Total height 24¾" / 63cm; shadeheight 9" / 23cm. Condition The font and base are both in very good condition, just minor wear, free of chips, cracks or repair. There are lots of tiny air bubbles below the surface from manufacture. The chimney is fine, minor wear only. The burner is a little tarnished but free of damage or repair; the wick winders raise and lower the wick but they are a little stiff to turn. The shade has a few small nibbles and nicks to the top rim but they're not obtrusive; otherwise in good order.
