Antique Oil Lamp Hinks No2 Duplex Moore Bros Flower Encrusted Base Antique Shade
Stunning Antique Hinks Oil lamp standing 68cm tall overall. The lamp base and font has a porcelain body Made by Moore Brothers during the 1880's/90's and it takes the form of a rococo style base with integrated bud vases for single stems or posies, the whole being adorned throughout with applied orchid flowers and leaves. Marks of Moore Bros on underside of base. The base and font are joined by way of a threaded brass post and the top of the font has a brass lugged type collar marked Hinks & Son Patent. The applied flowers are in remarkably undamaged condition. The Burner is a Hinks No2 Duplex, fully marked to wick winder buttons, centre of wick division and also to the gallery. The key turn rise and fall mechanism, double wick winder and snuffer lever all work well and new wicks fitted. An Anchor brand flat bulge chimney is fitted and an antique spherical glass shade profusely acid etched with flowers completes this exquisite lamp. There are non penetrating cracks to the underside of the lamp base which do not show on the exterior and may have been made in the firing.
