Elegant antique Hinks oil lamp standing 67cm tall. The oil lamp is formed as a classical urn with the main body being of a hard paste porcelain.

The porcelain is decorated with an image of a man with his child in his arms staring at a cross marking a grave (presumably that of his wife) He is dressed in what appears to be 17th century Russian peasant clothing. The image is framed with gold and the rest of the urn has further hand painted and gilded decorations (worn). The urn is mounted upon a brass base and has ornate rams head and floral handles with a border of mistletoe leaves encircling the rim.

The font is brass and drops neatly onto the urn. It has a lugged type fitting to the top. Hinks No 2 Duplex rise and fall burner with working key lift and snuffer lever. The wick winder has two buttons that raise and lower the wick independently of each other and is marked to the porcelain button cover Hinks No. The burner is of the lugged type and has an integrated 4 gallery.

A pretty globe shaped shade acid etched with a wreath and floral swag pattern in very good condition. The urn has a repaired chip to the underside of the belly of the urn. The chip is to the outside and has not penetrated to the inside of the urn.
