Elegant Antique banqueting oil lamp standing an impressive 3ft tall overall. The lamp has a stepped and embossed square base with a classical Corinthian column above. There is a hole in the side of the base and the weight in the base has a slot suggesting this was how it came out of the factory originally. Research suggests electricity in houses started in the late 19th century so I assume the oil lamp manufactures we're looking ahead! A pretty cut crystal font screws into the base and has a brass undermount and collar. The Font is fitted with a good quality "British Made" Duplex burner with working wick winders and snuffer lever, an antique brass gallery, new wicks, and a Sun Brand funnel type chimney. The lamp is completed with a frilled top globular shade of unknown age with an applied glass floral pattern and orange lustre finish. For more antique oil lamps please see sellers other items.
