Antique Cranberry Glass Double Duplex Wick Oil Lamp (converted to electric)
Antique British Made Victorian era Kerosene/Paraffin Oil Lamp (converted to electric). With Greek style metal Column topped with cast Corinthian detailing, Double Wick Duplex Burner, Cranberry glass oil font/reservoir, Matching Cranberry Glass Globe, with acid etched Art Nouveau detailing and a clear glass Flame guard/Chimney (modern replacement). Overall height from base to top of Chimney - 28.5 inches (72.5 cm). Note that the Chimney stands a little proud of the Shade. Lamp unscrews and disassembles for transit. Base has a cast iron inlay. Was rusty so has been sprayed gold. Lamp has been converted to an electric lam, gives a gorgeous warm cosy glow to any room. The delicate pink colour of Cranberry Glass is the most desirable of all the glass colours used for Victorian era Oil Lamps. The lighting effect is rich, subtle and warming. Cranberry glass was expensive to make as the manufacturing process uses real Gold. The Gold chloride used in the glass making process is made by dissolving Gold in a solution of Nitric and Hydrochloric acids (Aqua Regia). Condition: No damage to structure, reservoir or shade. The glass globe shade has some very light micro-chips in the edge of the base. I understand that this is quite normal. They are known as flea bites.
