SUPERB 19th C YOUNG'S CAST BRASS BASE, MATCHING FLUTED FONT BAYONET FIT COLLAR. SUPERB YOUNG'S CAST BRASS BASE OIL LAMP WITH MATCHING FONT This superb quality oil lamp base with matching font is by Young's. The base stands 30.6cm tall with a diameter of 21.3cm across the widest part of the foot.
The cast brass base has a cast metal insert for extra stability this has a number stamped into it, 662. The decoration is elegant in its simplicity, the close fluting rises up into an inverted conical pedestal also fluted and is finished with a fluted knop. The solid brass font mirrors the design of the base and is bisected with a plain stepped ring to the middle.
The font is finished with a bayonet fit collar, internally this measure 3.9cm and externally excluding the lugs it measures 6.3cm. A superb example from a leading maker.
