Spare Brass Tapering Corinthian Column Base For Hinks Duplex Kerosene Oil Lamp
This one is a Hinks example, marked on the cast iron base insert, and has Hinks's own thread to the top socket. Stands 37 CMs tall (14 &1/2 inches) with a base plinth 13&1/2 cms square , just under 5&1/2 inches. VERY heavy, the base plinth is cast brass and has a heavy cast iron slug inside too. Original iron rod through the centre with flat square nut to base.
The column is boldly reeded and also tapers which sets it above the herd. The capitol is hollow, and does have a very tiny hole , doubtles occurred during manufacture above one acanthus leaf, see last picture.
No drilled holes anywhere, no repairs. There are a couple of shallow dents in the column shaft, not very apparent, but can be felt with the fingers. Top threade socket is hinks's own thread, measures just over 21mm internal diameter. The fount screw that will fit this will measure 21.9 mm external thread diameter.
