Gone With The Wind Oil Lamp, Floral Ball And Font, Very Early, Original, Nice

This lamp has some size to it as it stands 20 1/2" tall to the top of the chimney and 18" to the top of the ball shade. The ball shade has a diameter of 10" and the font has a diameter of 10 1/2". This oil lamp has the typical Gone With The wind shape of a round ball with a squat font that the oil reservoir sits it. The pattern on the shade matches that of the font so you know they have been together since it was made. The shade and font have a deep burgundy and teal background color.

It is further decorated with a floral pattern that resembles Wild Roses. The pattern is on both sides of the font and on the front and sides of the ball with the back side being just the burgundy and teal background colors with no flowers. The lamp sits on a 4 legged metal frame in a gold finish. The table lamp is considered to be in very good to excellent condition as there are no nicks, chips or dings to any of the glass. There are some inclusions and a few stains on the glass but nothing too obtrusive. The lamp is signed on the underside crossbar that reads "A L & B 672 A". The burner is also signed on the top flame spreader and that reads "The Standard L & G Co". It has a single round knob to adjust the wick and is fully functional. I do not know who L & G Company is but I do know it is all original.

This is a quality oil lamp from the Victorian period. It appears to be 100% original with the possibility of the shade holder having been replaced at one time but not sure. These period lamps are becoming more scare as time moves on. Typically when found these lamps are marriages and don't always match. This one is about as good as they get as the shade and bottom patterns match in design and in color.

I have many more pictures if you need to see more of the font or base and shade. It will be like a casket and each box has to be insured for the entire value. No store lets you out of the building with the merchandise unless it is paid for. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
