ANTIQUE OIL LAMP WITH SHADE SEVRES PORCELAIN WITH GILT BRONZE MOUNTS. A fantastic antique Victorian oil lamp.

The lamp has a gilt bronze base with ornate scrolling designs which supports a hand painted Sevres celeste blue column with a cherub to one side and flowers to the reverse. Above is a bronze mount, then the brass fitting for the cut clear glass reservoir.

The lamp has a traditional'English Make' burner, a funnel and is finished with an Opaline shade decorated with four panels of birds, lavishly gilt. All pieces of the lamp date to the 19th century, possibly with the exception of the shade which may be later.

More photos in Auctiva Gallery below. Measures 29 1/2 75cm to top of funnel. Porcelain in good order with no faults or repairs but does have some gilt wear.

Reservoir with the occasional very small flea bite, and would benefit from a clean. Shade and funnel in good order.
